Equality and Diversity Statement

Our Commitment
At this practice, we are committed to providing a fair and inclusive environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. We believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. Our goal is to ensure that healthcare is accessible to all, and that care is provided based on clinical need alone, without bias or discrimination.

Zero Tolerance of Discrimination
We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or victimization. This applies to all "Protected Characteristics" as defined by the Equality Act 2010:

Age and Disability

Gender Reassignment

Marriage and Civil Partnership

Pregnancy and Maternity

Race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin)

Religion or Belief

Sex and Sexual Orientation

The "Reasonable Adjustment" Flag
As part of our commitment to the NHS Accessible Information Standard (2026), we use a digital "Reasonable Adjustment Flag" within your medical record.

What this means: If you have a disability or sensory loss, we will record your specific communication needs (e.g., "Requires BSL interpreter" or "Needs Easy Read letters").

Why we do it: This flag ensures that every member of our clinical and administrative team is immediately aware of your needs the moment they open your file, preventing you from having to repeat your requirements at every visit.

Your Choice: We will ask for your consent to record this. You can view, update, or remove these preferences at any time by speaking to our reception team.

Accessing Our Services
We strive to remove barriers to care. If you require any of the following, please let us know:

Interpretation: Free British Sign Language (BSL) or foreign language interpreters for all appointments.

Alternative Formats: Practice leaflets and letters in Large Print, Easy Read, or Braille.

Physical Access: Our premises are fully wheelchair accessible, and we have hearing loop systems installed at the front desk.

Longer Appointments: If you have a learning disability or complex mental health needs, we can offer extended appointment times to ensure you are not rushed.

Feedback and Complaints
We are always looking to improve our inclusivity. If you feel you have been treated unfairly or that our services are not accessible to you, please contact our Practice Manager. We take all such feedback seriously and use it to improve our staff training and surgery policies.
